Biocompatibility of marine magnetotactic ovoid strain MO-1 for in vivo application

Magnetotactic bacteria are capable of biosynthesizing magnetic nanoparticles, also called magnetosomes, and swimming along field lines. The abilities endow the whole cells magnetotactic with such applications as targeted therapy manipulation microrobots. We have shown that intact marine MO-1 kill efficiently antibiotic-resistant pathogen Staphylococcus aureus in vivo, but biocompatibility this bacterium is unknown. In study, strain was chosen to analyze its potential for biomedicine applications. Results showed could be guided at 37 °C under an external swim blood plasma urine. They keep active locomotivity within 40 min urine, although their velocity slowed down. When incubated human cells, had no obvious effects on cellular viability low dose, while cell toxicity increased augmentation quantity added. in-vivo experiments, median lethal dose rats determined 7.9×1010 bacteria/kg. These results provided foundation safety evaluations suggested they basically used clinical therapy.

Draft Genome Sequence of Magnetovibrio blakemorei Strain MV-1, a Marine Vibrioid Magnetotactic Bacterium
We report here the genome sequence of Magnetovibrio blakemorei MV-1, a marine vibrioid magnetotactic bacterium with a single polar flagellum. The current assembly consists of 91 contigs with a combined size of 3,638,804 bp (54.3% G+C content). This genome allows for further investigations of the molecular biomineralization mechanisms of magnetosome formation.
